Our Story

Here at Browns the Greengrocers we are continuing a long family tradition of serving the finest quality fruit and vegetables to the people of Yorkshire. Five generations have grown and developed the small family business since 1892.

 

One of our greatest achievements over the years was to have been selected to supply produce for the Queen's visit to York in 2012. Our efforts to maintain a traditional greengrocers were given the seal of approval and our produce and service declared ‘fit for a Queen’.

Our beginnings as traders on Leeds market is a heritage we have stayed true to. Although we have progressed in to a well-known shop, catering and delivery business we have maintained our 'Original Barrow Boy' roots. Today it is our privilege to serve on wonderful Yorkshire markets. You will find us in Starbeck and Pocklington. Do pop along and visit it us at one of these popular and friendly markets.​

Browns The Greengrocers are not only purveyors of fresh fruit and vegetables. The current generation at the helm of the family business has expanded the offering to include a wide variety of locally made and produced quality products.

Here at Browns The Greengrocers we are strong believers in keeping it local and working with other local businesses. We know this is important to our customers too. When it's not possible for our customers to come to us then we are happy to go to them. We are pleased to offer a free delivery service to customers in our local area to bring our finest quality and local produce to them.
